Terms of Use

Last updated: October 14, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Alert Me, including the mobile apps, the website at tryalertme.com, and public QR notification pages (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, accessing tryalertme.com, scanning or using an Alert Me QR code, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Alert Me.

Your privacy is described in our Privacy Policy at https://tryalertme.com/privacy. That policy is part of how we operate the Service.

The Service

Alert Me helps owners label personal items with QR codes and receive finder notifications. A person who finds an item may scan the QR code and send a message to the item owner. Features may include item registration, QR linking, push or email alerts, and optional finder-shared photos or location for a specific notification.

Alert Me is a communication and labeling tool only. It does not guarantee that lost or found items will be recovered, returned, or protected from theft or damage.

No emergency services

Public QR pages and Alert Me notifications do not contact police, medical responders, fire services, or any emergency authority. If you need emergency help, use local emergency numbers. Do not rely on Alert Me for safety-critical or emergency situations.

Accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

We may require email verification before full access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, appear abusive or fraudulent, or create security or operational risk.

QR codes and item information

Owners are responsible for what they print, place, or publish on items, and for how they respond to finder messages. Treat QR links as capability links: anyone who can scan or open the link may be able to send a notification about that item. Do not place Alert Me codes on items or in places where unwanted public contact would be unsafe or inappropriate.

Do not register items you do not have the right to manage. Do not use Alert Me to track people without lawful authority or consent.

Finder notifications

If you submit a finder notification, you agree that your message and any optional contact details, photo, or location you choose to share will be delivered to the item owner and may be reviewed by Service administrators. Provide only truthful, lawful information. Do not harass owners or misuse the notification form.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use Alert Me for unlawful, harmful, threatening, harassing, or fraudulent purposes.

Submit false, misleading, or abusive notifications.

Attempt to disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users’ data.

Interfere with security, rate limits, or abuse-prevention measures.

Use the Service in any way that could create risk to people, property, or public safety beyond ordinary lost-and-found communication.

Intellectual property

Alert Me branding, software, and site content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the Service except as allowed by these Terms or applicable law. You keep ownership of content you submit (such as item descriptions and finder messages), and you grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate Alert Me.

Third-party services

The Service may rely on third parties (for example hosting, email, push delivery, app stores, or abuse-prevention tools). Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT NOTIFICATIONS WILL ALWAYS BE DELIVERED OR READ.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALERT ME AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR ITEM VALUE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD 50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Alert Me and its operators against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your misuse of the Service, your items or QR placements, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Alert Me at any time. We may suspend or stop providing the Service, or suspend or terminate your access, if needed for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or operational reasons. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.

Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update features or these Terms as the product evolves. When we update these Terms, we will revise the “Last updated” date and post the current version at https://tryalertme.com/terms. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

App stores

If you download Alert Me from Apple App Store, Google Play, or another store, that store’s terms also apply to the download relationship. The store provider is not responsible for support, warranties, or claims related to Alert Me except as required by that store’s rules.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of tryalertme.com, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another jurisdiction’s laws, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise. Courts in a competent venue for that operator may hear disputes, subject to those mandatory protections.
